evangelist [ɪˈvændʒəlɪst]를 전도사라고 하는데, 무슨 말인가 하면, st를 떼고 보면, ‘이(어) 번지리’ 즉 전도사님의 복음 말씀이 ‘이어 번지게 되리’라는 뜻이다. evangel이라는 말도 옛 그리스에서는 evangelion이라고 했다.
